Sometimes a Bad Day Just Happens..

Often times in life there can be periods where our hearts are filled with joy and other times where we are bogged down with sadness and we just don't know why. I had one of those days this past weekend. I was confronted with a choice that I had to make. Most of the choice would be a sacrifice..and only some of it would be a gain. My heart was filled with a sadness that, for the most part, I have never experienced in that sort of way. I felt like a part of my life was going to be taken from me..needless to say, I was in a terrible mood. My attitude was just down, about everything.

But then I realized that I just might need to trust God in this situation. I might just need to give Him everything in order to get it back one day. As I was reading a devotional sort of thing..a quote at the bottom of the page stuck out to me. Well, first of all..it talked about 1 Thess 5:18 and how it talked about giving thanks in everything, not for everything. And that's when I looked at the quote at the bottom that read.."God has not promised to keep us from life's storms, but He will keep us through them." So..however my situation might turn out to be, God know's what will happen and will guide us through the toughest situations..even if we may not like them at the moment.

A whole other world..

Have you ever been to an aquarium? Or scuba diving? The first time I went scuba diving I was so amazed by all of the colors of the fish. It was really diving into another world. Just last weekend I went to the Baltimore aquarium and I hadn't been there since middle school. Walking around and peering into the tanks I felt like a little kid again. All of the stripes, the buldging eyes, the fish lips, the bright colors, the dull colors make for a world of discovery. Wow, I do sound like Steve Irwin..just add an Australian accent and you won't be able to tell us apart. :) I also saw the dolphin show which was fun to see. How unique would it be to work with dolphins as a job? Not sure what they get paid..but still. One of the last things that I saw in an exhibit were jelly fish that had flashing rainbow lights inside them. It is amazing to me how these creatures are so beautiful, and yet people still believe in evolution. How can such a complex organism with rainbow lights flashing inside them come from just a speck of bacteria? People need to look around and instead of making up excuses as to why there is evidence that supports no God..look at the world and all of creation. Everything supports the fact that there is a God that created us. Yes, we may have similar features as monkeys..but we aren't still evolving. God made us in the image of him. We have souls and have a purpose here on earth. There wouldn't be science without a God, would there? God created everything. Sometimes, something as simple as going to an aquarium and looking at streaming lights from a clear organism can make one look towards God and admire His creation even more.

Thank you little bird, you taught me a lot.

Sometimes life can go faster than you may think. One day, you are complaining that you are too young to do anything, and the next you realize that there were many things that you wished you could've done in your life. This past week I've heard several people comment on how the years fly by and it struck me that the exact same feeling will once probably hit me too. I'm scared because I don't want life to go too fast, yet at the same time, I have so much that I want to do in my life and sometimes I just want to do it NOW. But I have to sit back and take/enjoy one day at a time.

Another thought that comes to my mind often is that I have no idea how long I have on this earth. The other day I was walking on the sidewalk and saw a guy taking a picture with his camera phone. As I walked past I wondered what it was that he was so intrigued by when another guy stopped and asked. I looked and saw he was taking a picture of a baby bird that was near the tree stump. We talked about how cute it was and how the mom probably shoved him out of the nest. An hour later, I walked by the same tree, only this time it was pouring rain. To my dismay, I walked by the tree and saw the bird beak-first in a rain puddle. I couldn't believe it! It was JUST alive about an hour ago..it happened so quick. Isn't this the same thing we all ask ourselves when someone close to us dies? We all know death is coming, yet it suprises us when it happens to someone we know. I want to live my life as if my death is around the corner. What do I mean by that? Well, I have a relationship with the Lord but I know it can be a lot stronger than it is right now. I want to be close to Him and be a witness to other people who may not know him.

And all of this came from that little dead bird by the tree stump.

Another Beautiful Day

I'm so thankful for this day today!! It is gorgeous out and the trees are slowly changing colors. The skies are blue and I am ready to go outside and breathe in the fresh air, haha. I had my first exam essay today which went suprisingly well..at least I hope so. I thought I prepared for it pretty well so we'll see. Tomorrow my hall is going to Philly so that should be fun and tonight I am going to the mall with some friends. Because of this weather, I am starting to get excited about the fall season. I absolutely love fall..apple cider, crunching leaves under my feet all contribute to a beautiful season..plus bonfires :) Well I am going to go leave for lunch now.. but I'm putting up a picture of a flower that I took last summer which reminds me of a day like today!

Kick-off

Well, today was a pretty successful day PLUS it was beautiful outside! On days such as this, I cannot just sit inside and attempt to do work while I watch the sun shine its bright rays outside. So, I took my distracted self and a couple friends and all of us set out to do work. Great, you might think..being productive freshman right off the bat. Well..not so much. I believe I have been doing well with the workload so far, but I can get pretty distracted at times. My friends and I decided to sit on a hill which just so happened was next to the women's soccer game that was going on! Well, we just couldn't sit there and not cheer for Eastern, right? Of course. And if we were playing Cabrini..we would be unloyal to not cheer for our home team that was leading the game. These were all the thoughts that were going through my mind at this time..not to mention that I only read 3 pages. But I was able to finish my homework the rest of the night. This week seems to be one that is trying its best to hold onto summer while it has the chance because it knows that the fall season is approaching fast. I have to admit, I really do love every season..all for different reasons. But that can be for a different blog..because now I am venturing off to bed to get my sleep. Oh, and the picture is one that I took in upstate New York..so beautiful and I felt that since this is my first blog, it needed a touch of beauty! :)
